RESIDENTIAL. CASTLE COVE

Scard Residence.

A relaxed family pool set into the bushland at Castle Cove. Designed to disappear into the planting.

Location
Castle Cove, NSW
Type
Residential

The block sits on a bushland ridge at Castle Cove. The clients wanted a pool that read like a rock pool from the upstairs deck and a garden feature from the lawn. Almost no visible coping. No surrounding tile field.

We poured a freeform concrete shell with a fully tiled pebble interior and a low travertine surround that runs into the planting. The result is a pool that looks like it has always been there. Five seasons in, the planting has grown over and the brief has been honoured.

Frequently asked

Castle Cove pool questions.

Can a pool be designed to blend into a bushland garden?
Yes. This Castle Cove pool was built to read like a rock pool from the upstairs deck and a garden feature from the lawn, with almost no visible coping and no surrounding tile field. Several seasons on, the planting has grown over it as intended.
What finish suits a natural, bushland look?
We poured a freeform concrete shell with a fully tiled pebble interior and a low travertine surround that runs into the planting. A freeform shape and soft finish help the pool settle into a bushland setting.
Why choose a concrete pool for a sloping bushland block?
Concrete lets us shape a freeform pool to the ridge and hold a low surround that disappears into the garden. Wright Pools has designed and built concrete pools across Sydney since 1968.
