RESIDENTIAL. DARLING POINT

Mona Road.

A D-shaped rooftop pool finished in green glass mosaic, its straight edge closed by a single run of frameless glass over the Sydney skyline.

Location
Darling Point, NSW
Type
Residential rooftop

This pool sits on top of a residential building at Darling Point, with the city on one side and the eastern suburbs falling away on the other. The brief was a pool that belonged to the roofline, open to the outlook rather than closed off behind a fence.

We built a D-shaped concrete shell finished in a deep green glass mosaic, with the straight face held by a single run of frameless glass so the water reads flush with the horizon. A round spa sits alongside it, and pale stone paving keeps the terrace quiet under the sun. From the water, the view runs uninterrupted from the harbour across to the city.
